Game ready robot BP-24

I wanted to create a small funny retro robot. So that he would be cute, but at the same time moderately dangerous. He would have to have everything for real: armor, weapons, components, etc. And so that its design had an old anime, Lucas films and retro games vibe.

I started by searching for shapes to stretch my imagination and look for interesting combinations of very simple objects such as a cylinder, a cube and a ball.
I added a little more detail to some of my favorite sketches.
As a result, I ended up with such a team of brave robots.
I conducted a vote on my Telegram channel and the finalist (the leftmost robot) was chosen by the total number of votes.
I started modeling it in Blender, going through all the stages of modeling:

- Blocking
- Complication of shapes and details
- Base mesh
- High poly and low poly
- High poly complication
Afterwards I made a UV map in order to put my model into Substance Painter. There I made all the materials, adding interesting details to the model.
But before working with textures, I had to decide on the coloring of the robot. I quickly made a grease pencil render in Blender to get a line drawing for export. I made several coloring options in Photoshop.
Both I and the people to whom I showed the color options liked the third color option the most. I had a color sketch, a scan and LP/HP, so I could start texturing.

Here are some screenshots from SP showing the new details and textures.
The result was a set of textures with which I returned to Blender, where I made the final renders.
These are the final renders. What do you think of this little warrior? 🤖
Thanks for watching! 🙂
